  • PISCATAWAY, NJ – A pair of Rutgers University wrestlers are currently ranked among the top 20 in their respective weight classes. Sophomore Andy Roy (Wall, NJ) and senior Ryan McGrath (Columbia, NJ) are both ranked 19th at 174 and 197, respectively, in different polls.

Roy, a red-shirt sophomore, is ranked 19th nationally in the latest W.I.N. Magazine top 20 poll at 174 pounds. Roy is 7-2 this season, including a 10-5 win over Indiana’s Brady Richardson. He has won five of his last six matches and owns third-place finishes at the Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Classic and the Navy Invitational.

McGrath, a senior, is ranked 19th at 197 by Intermat. He has won five matches in a row, including a first place finish at the Navy Invitational and a 2-1 win over Pat DeGain, ranked ninth nationally entering the match.

Rutgers is 1-0 this season following its 19-17 win over Indiana on November 30, its first-ever win vs. a Big 10 school. The Scarlet Knights return to action on Saturday, when they compete at the Sheridan Duals vs. Lehigh, Slippery Rock and Lock Haven.
