  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Jan. 27, 2013) – The Rutgers wrestling team has two home matches remaining this season, with promotions scheduled for its meetings with Lock Haven (Feb. 15) at the College Ave. Gym and Drexel (Feb. 21) at the RAC.

Toms River, N.J., native and former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar will host a one-hour autograph session prior to the Scarlet Knights match vs. Drexel on Feb. 21 at the RAC. The match also represents “Senior Day.”

The Scarlet Knights invite fans to pack “The Barn” at 1 p.m. on Feb. 15, as RU challenges fans to fill the College Ave. Gym as part of its “Greek Day.” If the match sells out, support will be pledged to the Embrace Kids Foundation. A sellout will ensure a donor contribution to the organization, which offers unique programs and services that deliver a comprehensive and compassionate method of delivering care to families when they need it most.

Students involved with Rutgers University Dance Marathon are also strongly encouraged to attend the event. Rutgers University Dance Marathon is the largest, student-run philanthropic event in New Jersey. RUDM raises money and awareness for Embrace Kids Foundation.

“We’re trying to get as many fans in the seats as possible for a great cause,” said head coach Scott Goodale. “We have some of the best fans in the country and Embrace Kids does great things for children in need. I’m looking forward to having a packed ‘Barn.’”

“Greek Day” / Embrace Kids Challenge

Rutgers wrestling urges all fans to pack “The Barn” on Feb. 15 when the Scarlet Knights face Lock Haven at the College Ave. Gym. A sellout will ensure a donor contribution to the Embrace Kids Foundation, while RU has a number of promotions lined up for the day.

Families involved with Embrace Kids will receive a special $5 discounted admission price, while children 12 and under will be given the opportunity to sign up for the Junior Knights Club, which gives them free access to all RU olympic sporting events.

A pair of Flips™ Audio Headphones will be given away in a free student raffle, while the Greek organization with the largest representation will win a new television.

Furthermore, Rutgers will hold a sumo suit match at the intermission, with the winner also receiving a pair of Flips™ Audio Headphones. The two RU students that use the hashtag "RU4EmbraceKids" most leading up to the Feb. 15 match will earn the right to compete in the sumo suit competition.

    About Embrace Kids

The original group has flourished into Embrace Kids Foundation, an impressive organization comprising parents of patients, working professionals, community leaders and college/high school students.

Embrace Kids Foundation provides over $1 million in services to children and families throughout the greater New Jersey area. The child patients range in age from infancy to young adulthood and encompass all ethnic and social backgrounds. Embrace Kids’ family programs and support services are available at absolutely no cost to the family. The organization is committed to enhancing the quality of life and relieving emotional, spiritual and financial concerns.
