MALVERN, Pa. (May 8, 2012) – Rutgers wrestling’s Greg Zannetti (Edison, N.J.) has been named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association’s Individual All-Academic team for the 2011-12 season, it was announced Tuesday. The 2012 NCAA qualifier at 174 pounds earned RU’s first recognition on the team since 2002.

A redshirt junior, Zannetti was a force on the mats and in the classrooms for the Scarlet Knights. The sociology major recorded a team-best 31-6 record in 2011-12 and earned qualification to his first NCAA Championships.

The NWCA, established in 1928, has records of its All-Academic teams dating back to 1991. Zannetti’s honor is the sixth NWCA academic recognition in school history.

Recently named assistant coach Frank Molinaro was also named to the All-Academic team for his efforts this past season at Penn State.
