August-29-03 Rutgers Wrestling Announces 2003-04 Schedule
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers University wrestling team, under the head coach John Sacchi, will open its season on Saturday, November 15 when it travels to the Oklahoma Gold/Brockport Invitational in Brockport, NY, one of 15 regular-season dates on the 2003-04 schedule, which was announced today.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers University head wrestling coach John Sacchi has announced his 14-member, 2003-2004 recruiting class, which includes nine scholastic products from the State of New Jersey. Included in the class are five regional champions and one New Jersey state champion.

April-10-03 Rutgers Wrestling Announces Annual Award Winners
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers University wrestling team held its annual awards banquet on Wednesday night and announced its major award winners. The team, which posted a 10-6 record, placed sixth at the EIWA Championships and sent four wrestlers to the NCAA Tournament, enjoyed one of the most successful seasons in recent history on many levels.

March-23-03 Khan, Roy Bow Out Of Nationals With Second-Day Losses
KANSAS CITY, MO – Junior Amir Khan (Voorhees, NJ) and sophomore Andy Roy (Wall, NJ) saw their NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship action come to an end with losses in the second round of consolation action. Khan, wrestling at 157, and Roy, competing at 174, ended action with identical 1-2 records.

March-20-03 Khan, Roy Remain Alive After First Day at Wrestling Nationals
KANSAS CITY, MO – Two of four wrestlers from the Rutgers wrestling team remain active after day one of the 2003 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. RU sent four wrestlers to nationals, with two bowing out on the first day. All four lost their opening round matches.

March-08-03 Rutgers Wrestling Takes Sixth at EIWA Championships
ITHACA, NY - Led by a second-place finish from Andy Roy (Wall, NJ), and supported by top four finishes from three others, the Rutgers wrestling team placed sixth at the 2003 EIWA Wrestling Championships, hosted by Cornell University. More importantly, RU will send four student-athletes – Greg Austin (Seaville, NJ), Amir Khan (Voorhees, NJ), Roy and Ryan McGrath (Blairstown, NJ) – to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in Kansas City, MO. RU has not sent four grapplers to Nationals since the 1964 season – a span of 39 years.

March-07-03 Wrestling Quintet Alive in Winners’ Bracket
ITHACA, NY – Five members of the Rutgers wrestling team remain alive in the championship bracket heading into semifinal action at the 2003 EIWA Championships. The 2003 EIWA Championships, hosted by Cornell University, ended day one action this evening with half of the Scarlet Knights’ contingency poised for a run at an individual championship. With 36.50 points, RU is sitting in fourth place after one day of competition - on track for one of its best-ever finishes.

February-26-03 RU Wrestling Ends Season with 21-13 Win Over Bloomsburg
BLOOMSBURG, PA – The Rutgers University wrestling team won five of the final seven matches of the night to secure a 21-13 win over Bloomsburg in intercollegiate wrestling action in Bloomsburg, PA. Falling behind 6-3 after two matches, sophomore Rudy Medini (Colonia, NJ) registered a 9-3 win at 184 to tie the match at 6-6 and propel Rutgers to victory. With their win, the Scarlet Knights end the season at 10-6 heading into the EIWA Championships.

February-20-03 Rutgers Wrestling Edged by Drexel In Criteria
PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Rutgers wrestling team fell to Drexel Thursday night by criteria after the Dragons scored more near fall points to break the 17-17 tie following 10 bouts. The Scarlet Knights fall to 9-6 on the season with the loss.
