March-04-05 Roy, Ressa Advance to Semis in First Day of EIWA Championships
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Rutgers seniors Andy Roy (Wall, NJ) and Chris Ressa (Andover, NJ) each reached the semifinal round of their weight bracket on Friday in the opening day of the 101st annual Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Championships (EIWA). Rutgers is in ninth place in the 13-school tournament, hosted by the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. The Scarlet Knights accumulated 13 points as a team on Friday. Lehigh leads the team championship with 60 points after the opening day.

February-24-05 No. 23 Army Escapes With 23-20 Victory Over Rutgers Wrestling
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Seniors Andy Roy (Wall, NJ) and Chris Ressa (Andover, NJ) posted victories in their final match at the College Avenue Gymnasium, but the Scarlet Knights fell just short of upending No. 23 Army on Thursday, dropping a 23-20 decision to the Black Knights. Rutgers and Army split the 10 bouts with the Scarlet Knights surrendering six points with a forfeit at heavyweight. RU ends its dual season 6-8 overall and 2-5 in the EIWA, while Army moves to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in the EIWA.

February-17-05 Rutgers Wrestling Drops Close Decision to Drexel, 21-17
PHILADELPHIA, PA – In what has unfortunately become a theme for the season, the Rutgers wrestling team’s depleted roster was the difference in a tight battle with a talented Drexel squad, as the Scarlet Knights dropped a 21-17 decision to the Dragons on Thursday at the Daskalakis Athletic Center in Philadelphia.

February-11-05 Rutgers Wrestling Posts 30-9 Victory at Princeton
PRINCETON, NJ – Rutgers’ severely-depleted roster got some help on Friday as a several members returned from injury to make the difference in a 30-9 victory over Princeton in wrestling action.

February-02-05 Rider Tops Rutgers Wrestling, 34-7
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Rutgers’ severely-depleted roster continued to limit the Scarlet Knights’ wrestling team as RU was forced to forfeit two matches in a 34-7 loss to Rider on Wednesday at the College Avenue Gymnasium in New Brunswick, NJ. The Scarlet Knights move to 5-6 on the season, while the Broncs improve to 9-5.

January-29-05 Rutgers Wrestling Falls to Terriers
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Despite strong efforts by freshmen Joe Sacco (Johnson City, NY) and Rob Kaiser (Lodi, NJ), the Rutgers wrestling team fell to Boston University 26-13 Saturday evening in the College Avenue Gymnasium. The Terriers won four of the first five matches to open up a fourteen point lead the Knights couldn’t overcome. The Knights fall to 5-5 on the season.

January-26-05 Rutgers Wrestling Bows to Navy, 35-7
ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Rutgers wrestling team dropped a 35-7 decision to 19th-ranked Navy Wednesday night at Halsey Field House on the campus of the United States Naval Academy. Riddled with injuries, RU was forced to compete with a limited lineup, forfeiting at 197 and heavyweight. The Scarlet Knights move to 5-4 overall and 1-4 in the EIWA with the loss, while the Midshipmen improve to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the EIWA.

January-22-05 Brown Downs Rutgers, 29-9, In Wrestling Action
PROVIDENCE, RI – With its roster severely depleted, the Rutgers wrestling team dropped a 29-9 decision to Brown on Saturday evening at the Pizzitola Center in Providence, RI. With the loss, the Scarlet Knights drop to 5-3 overall and 1-3 in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA). The win is Brown’s third-straight, moving the Bears to
3-3 on the season.

January-15-05 Scarlet Knights Juggle Lineup to Post 26-18 Victory Over Sacred Heart
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – With injuries depleting the Rutgers roster, several Scarlet Knights were forced to bump up and compete at higher weights to prevent a forfeit in at any weight. The strategy paid off as Rutgers earned a hard-fought 26-18 victory over Sacred Heart on Saturday night at the College Avenue Gymnasium in New Brunswick. The win improves the Scarlet Knights to 5-2 in dual matches this season, while the Pioneers fall to 2-5.

January-12-05 Rutgers Wrestling Drops 19-13 Decision to East Stroudsburg
EAST STROUDSBURG, PA – The Rutgers University wrestling team lost a 19-13 decision to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday evening, moving its dual record to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA). The Scarlet Knights fell behind early and came out on the short end of several very close decisions that proved to be the turning point in the match.
