BETHLEHEM, PA – The Rutgers University wrestling team opened its EIWA schedule on Sunday with a 36-3 loss at the hands of the No. 8 Mountain Hawks of Lehigh. Rutgers senior captain Rudy Medini (Colonia, NJ) earned the lone Scarlet Knights victory on the day at the 184-pound class with a 4-1 decision over Ben Bishop.

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Rutgers University wrestling team continued its season on Saturday with a third-place showing at the eight-team Navy Classic in Annapolis, MD. The Scarlet Knights finished with 76 points overall, just behind second place finisher West Virginia.

BROCKPORT, NY – The Rutgers University wrestling team opened its 2005-2006 season with a sixth-place finish at the SUNY Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Showcase Classic. The Scarlet Knights finished with 85 points in the 11-team tournament, on Saturday, Nov. 12.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers University wrestling head coach John Sacchi announced the hiring of Joseph Ryan as an assistant coach with the program. Ryan replaces long-time assistant coach Mike Leta, who announced his retirement at the conclusion of the 2004-05 season after nine years with the program.

Head coach John Sacchi completed his 15th season “On the Banks” with his signature 150th victory at the helm of a program he has taken to prominence on the national scene throughout his tenure with the Scarlet Knights. The 2004-05 Rutgers wrestling team was once again represented with multiple Scarlet Knights earning bids to the NCAA Wrestling Championships, including senior Andy Roy’s unmatched fourth appearance in the NCAA Championships.

April-11-05 Roy Receives Third-Straight MVP Honor at Rutgers Wrestling Awards Banquet
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers University wrestling team held its annual awards banquet on Monday night, April 11, at the Hale Center on the school’s Busch Campus. The team posted a 6-8 record in 2004-05 despite being riddled with injuries to several starters throughout the season. The Scarlet Knights sent a pair of wrestlers to the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, MO.
