BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The Rutgers wrestling team opened the 2006-07 campaign with a sixth-place finish at the Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Classic on the SUNY-Brockport campus in Brockport, N.Y. The Scarlet Knights were led by Karim Mahmoud (Wallington, N.J.) who finished third at 197 pounds and Jack Barrett (Metuchen, N.J.) and Mike Whalen (Lake Hiawatha, N.J.) who finished fourth at 149 and 174 pounds, respectively.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Incoming freshmen Keith Dobish (Lodi, NJ) and D.J. Russo (Netcong, NJ) were honored last week by ASICS for their decorated high school wrestling careers. Dobish was named to the 21st annual ASICS All-America Third Team, while Russo earned honorable mention status.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers University wrestling team’s 2006 recruiting class has been recognized as the 24th best in the nation and third best in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) behind No. 1 Lehigh and No. 8 Cornell, Intermat Wrestling and the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced last week.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Rutgers University wrestling program has received commitments from 12 student-athletes as members of the class of 2010, head coach John Sacchi announced Tuesday. The class, which includes 10 New Jersey natives, features nine state place-winners, five nationally ranked wrestlers, three high school All-Americans and two state champions.

March-28-06 2005-06 Season Review
Head coach John Sacchi completed his 16th season as the leader of the Rutgers wrestling program and guided a youthful and exciting Scarlet Knight team to a seven win season. Sacchi has consistently been able to get the most out of his wrestlers and with junior Steve Adamcsik's trip to the NCAA Championships in Oklahoma City, OK, Sacchi delivered a qualifier to the NCAAs for the fourth straight season, and during his 16 years, RU has sent competitors to the NCAA Championships in 12 of them.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - Rutgers 141-pounder Steve Adamcsik (Chester, NJ) closed out his junior season with two strong efforts at the NCAA Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Ford Center.
