Rutgers Defeats Georgia Southern for First Win of Season

  • HARRISONBURG, VA – The Rutgers women’s volleyball team (2-3) secured its first wins of the season by defeating Georgia Southern 3-0 (30-20, 30-26 and 30-23) in its first matche of the Madison Invitational, hosted by James Madison University.

    The Scarlet Knights picked up their first win of the season in convincing fashion against the Georgia Southern. They committed only eight errors and posted a .462 hitting percentage in the match. Sophomore Ashleigh Young (Albany, OR) led three Knights in double figures with a career-high 13 kills and committed zero attack errors for a .650 hitting percentage. Senior Shayla Bush (Spokane, WA) led the team in digs with eight and junior setter Abbey Martin (Topeka, KS) led the Knights once again in assists with 44.
