Duke Defeats Rutgers 3-0 to Snap Win Streak
DURHAM, NC – Rutgers’ eight-game winning
streak was snapped Friday night with a 3-0 (18-30, 22-30, 16-30) loss to Duke
(10-3) in Durham, NC. With the loss, the Scarlet Knights fall to 8-3 on the
season.
Rutgers was led by sophomore Shayla Bush (Spokane, WA), who posted 21 digs, seven kills and two block assists. Freshman Courtney Stout (San Marcos, CA) added 16 digs and seven kills, while senior co-captain Pualani Tuyay (San Diego, CA) had 23 assists and 12 digs.
Duke was paced by Katie Gilman’s 12 digs and 11 kills and Jill Sonne’s 23 digs and eight kills. Krista Kill added five block assists.
Rutgers will continue its road trip with two more matches in North Carolina
on Saturday, Sept. 21. The Scarlet Knights will face Campbell University at
the University of North Carolina at noon, followed by a match against the No.
18 Tarheels at 7:00 p.m.
