  • NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Lora Yankauskas (Paramus, NJ), a sophomore outside hitter on the Rutgers volleyball team, has been named the BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced today.

Yankauskas led the Scarlet Knights to a 2-0 record this weekend, including a 3-2 victory against first-place Pittsburgh on Friday, Nov. 5, and a 3-0 sweep of West Virginia on Sunday, Nov. 7. Yankauskas averaged 4.75 kills and 1.38 blocks per game for the weekend.

In RU’s win against Pittsburgh, Yankauskas registered her fourth double-double of the season with 22 kills and 13 digs, while also matching her career high of six block assists. The Panthers were previously one of only two unbeaten teams in the conference before the Scarlet Knights handed them their first BIG EAST loss.

Against West Virginia, Yankauskas continued her outstanding play as she led the team with 16 kills and recorded five block assists. Rutgers held the Mountaineers to a -.022 hitting percentage in the first game and .037 for the match.

Yankauskas currently leads the team in kills per game with 3.71, good enough for sixth in the BIG EAST.

The Scarlet Knights (15-9, 3-5 BIG EAST) return to action on Friday, Nov. 12, when they will take on the Georgetown Hoyas at 8:00 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
