Women's Volleyball Wins Final Two Matches at the Radisson Invitational

  • KALAMAZOO, MI – The Rutgers volleyball team (3-3) picked up wins against Marquette (16-30, 30-26, 30-24, 34-24) and Maine (30-25, 24-30, 27-30, 30-23, 15-11) on the final day of competition at the Radisson Invitational on Sept.11. The wins evened Rutgers' record at 3-3.

    In the Scarlet Knights’ first match of the day against Marquette, sophomore Lora Yankauskas (Paramus, NJ) recorded a team-high 14 kills, followed by senior Stephanie Travioli (Arlington, TX) who tallied 13 kills of her own. Senior Dawn Christjaener (Huntington Beach, CA) recorded a double-double with 11 kills and a team-high 14 digs. Senior Abbey Martin (Topeka, KS) led all players with a 50 assists.

    In the evening match against Maine, Christjaener recorded her second double-double of the day with a match-high 22 kills and 14 digs. Junior Courtney Stout (San Marcos, CA) also recorded 14 digs to lead the Scarlet Knights. Yankauskas tallied a career-high 21 kills while Martin matched her previous career high in assists with 63.

    For her efforts, Yankauskas was named to the Radisson Invitational All-Tournament team.

    Rutgers volleyball will return to action on Sept. 17-18 at the Rhode Island Invitational in Kingston, RI. RU will face tournament host, Rhode Island at 11:00 a.m., followed by Harvard at 5:00 p.m. The Scarlet Knights will go up against New Hampshire on the final day of competition at 11:00 a.m.
