PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Rutgers volleyball team announced that Amanda Meyer (Naperville, IL) has signed a national letter of intent to play for the team in 2004.
Meyer, a 6-1 middle blocker from Naperville North High School, is ranked as a top-250 recruit nationally by prepvolleyball.com. This season, she was first team All-Conference and All-Area and was named to the Lake Park All-Tournament Team. Naperville North, the fifth ranked prep school in the state, went 37-3 this season and has won the Dupage Valley Conference title every season Meyer played with the team. While playing club volleyball for Sports Performance 14-1, the team won a National Title, and her most recent team, Lions Juniors 17-1, finished 17th at Nationals last season. She was named to Academic All-Conference team her junior year.
She was highly recruited by many schools and she is a player with multiple roles,” 10th-year
head coach Ann Leonard-House said. “She adds depth in the middle and to
the right side of our court. She’s a great player and we’re looking
forward to having her.”
Rutgers finished the season 11-17 overall and 5-7 in BIG EAST play, good for eighth place in the conference. The team closed out the season on a high note, defeating Georgetown and Boston College in the final two matches of the year.
