WASHINGTON, DC - The Rutgers volleyball team (10-17, 4-7 BIG EAST) hit a dominating .420 en route to a 3-0 (30-23, 30-21 and 30-24) win over Georgetown in its last road match of the year on Sunday, Nov. 9.
The Scarlet Knights jumped out early and controlled every facet of the match on the way to their 10th victory of the year. Junior Dawn Christjaener (Huntington Beach, CA) led the way on offense with 14 kills, while committing only three errors. For the second consecutive match, sophomore Courtney Stout (San Marcos, CA) led the team in digs (12).
With her team-leading five block assists, sophomore Ashleigh Young (Albany, OR) moved into sixth place on the Rutgers single season total blocks list. Rutgers was outstanding on defense all day long, holding the Hoyas (9-17, 4-7 BIG EAST) to a .208 hitting percentage, while tallying 10 total blocks.
Rutgers will finish up the season with a home match against Boston College on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 2:00 p.m.
