  • NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Rutgers volleyball team (9-15, 3-5 BIG EAST) couldn’t handle UConn’s aggressive attack and fell 3-0 (30-23, 30-27 and 30-26) in a BIG EAST showdown at the College Avenue Gymnasium on Friday, Oct. 31.

The Huskies (15-11, 3-5 BIG EAST) jumped out early and Rutgers was unable to recover. Senior Shayla Bush (Spokane, WA) registered a double-double to lead the Scarlet Knights in kills (17) and digs (13). Junior Dawn Christjaener (Huntington Beach, CA) contributed 10 kills and seven digs, while junior Abbey Martin (Topeka, KS) added 37 assists.

“ I think UConn came out very aggressive and we sat back and waited to see things happen,” said 10th-year head coach Ann Leonard-House. “We can’t do that at this level. We have to be the aggressors.”

RU will have a chance to gain a split on its home-stand when it meets St. John’s on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 2:00 p.m.
