PRINCETON, N.J. – The Rutgers women’s track and field team wrapped up the final day of the 2009 ECAC Outdoor Championship on Sunday, May 17, at Weaver Stadium on the campus of Princeton University. The Scarlet Knights scored 17 points to finish in a tie for 17th among a field of 58 schools.
Junior Michelle Gomes (Orlando, Fla.), who advanced to the finals of the 200-meter dash, returned for Sunday’s competition, placing third in a time of 24.06. Rutgers also received a pair of stellar finishes in the field as junior Jessica Bandy (West Keansburg, N.J.) and freshman Alex Kelly (Florham Park, N.J.) placed fourth and fifth, respectively in the javelin. Bandy recorded a throw of 149’10”, while Kelly posted a throw of 148’10”.
The Scarlet Knights will return to action on Friday, May 29, and Saturday, May 30, for the NCAA East Regional at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C.
