Rutgers Women’s Track And Field Wraps Up BIG EAST Championship

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Rutgers women’s track and field team closed out competition at the 2009 Outdoor BIG EAST Championship on Sunday, May 3, in Villanova, Pa. The women tallied 19 points to place 14th.

Louisville took home the team title with 138 points, while Connecticut placed second (102 points) and Georgetown finished third (91 points) among 16 squads.

The Scarlet Knights collected points on the final day from two track events and another event in the field.

Junior Michelle Gomes (Orlando, Fla.) participated in the finals of the 200-meter dash, taking fifth with a time of 24.36. Sophomore Latoshia Bost (Crofton, Md.) placed eighth in the finals of the 400-meter, clocking a time of 56.41, while sophomore Nwamaka Okobi (Freeport, N.Y.) finished sixth in the triple jump, recording a mark of 38’ 5 1/2”.

Rutgers will next compete on Friday, May 15, through Sunday, May 17 at the ECAC Championships in Princeton, N.J. RESULTS
