The Scarlet Knights finished with 34 points, while the University of Pittsburgh won with 114 points. Georgetown University's 68 points earned second and Syracuse University took third with 55. The College of William and Mary placed fourth (42), West Virginia University was fifth (41), Duke University was sixth (39), Yale University placed seventh (36.50), Cornell Universtiy was eighth (36) and Northeastern University placed ninth with 35 points.
There were three second-place finishes to lead the team to tenth place. Danielle Hobson (West Orange, NJ) finished the 400-meter hurdles in 57.95 for second place and Shameka Marshall (Mizpah, NJ) captured second in the long jump with a mark of 6.11 meters. Jen Austin (Garfield, NJ) and Melinda Foster (Barnegat, NJ) captured second and third, respectively in the javelin throw. Austin took second with a throw of 45.26 meters and Foster placed third with a throw of 43.78.
Dominique Sanon (Bridgeport, CT) placed seventh in the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.63. The 4x400 meter relay team of Sanon, Irene Clybourn (Hammonton, NJ), Jacqueline Todd (Willingboro, NJ) and Hobson placed seventh with a time of 3:46.18. Sarah Cullen (Red Bank, NJ) had a throw of 13.75 meters to place eighth in the shot put competition.
The NCAA Regionals will take place May 30-June 1, in Fairfax, VA and the NCAA Championships will be held in Sacramento, CA, June 11-14.
