PHILADELPHIA, PA – The men’s and women’s track and field teams finished competition at the 109th annual Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, Thursday-Saturday, April 24-26.
In the second day of competition, the two-mile relay team ran in 9:05.50 for ninth place. Nicole Lombardy (Lincroft, NJ) ran the first leg in 2:16.4, Belmax DeJesus (Fort Lee, NJ) ran the second leg in 2:20.4, Julie Clifford (Haworth, NJ) ran 2:18.8 and Dominique Sanon (Bridgeport, CT) ran the anchor in 2:09.5.
Desiree Battle (Syracuse, NY) had her best jump of the season, a mark of 37’11” in the triple jump, placing her 13th and just missing the final by two inches.
In the first day of competition, Shameka Marshall (Mizpah, NJ) had a personal best jump of 20’ ½” to place second in the long jump and break the school record, set in 1980 by Patty Knighton at the Delaware State Invitational. Sarah Beth Cullen (Red Bank, NJ) placed sixth in shot put with a throw of 44’ 4” and Kiara Adams (Westminster, MD) placed seventh in the same event, throwing 43’ 7”.
The men’s and women’s teams will travel to Storrs, CT, to compete
in the BIG EAST Championships, Friday through Sunday, May 2-4.
