PHILADELPHIA, PA – The women’s track and field team finished the first day of competition at the 109th annual Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, Thursday-Saturday, April 24-26.
Highlighting the results for Rutgers on the first day was Shameka Marshall’s (Mizpah, NJ) second-place performance in the long jump. Marshall’s personal best mark of 20’ ½” broke the school record, set in 1980 by Patty Knighton at the Delaware State Invitational.
Sarah Beth Cullen (Red Bank, NJ) placed sixth in shot put with a throw of 44’ 4” and Kiara Adams (Westminster, MD) placed seventh in the same event, throwing 43’ 7”.
Competition at the Penn Relays will continue on Friday, April 25, and wrap
up on Saturday, April 26.
