Rutgers had 22 points to tie with William and Mary for 13th place, while Seton Hall won the championships with 77 points. Northeastern University had 50 points for second, Syracuse University earned third place (47), University of Pittsburgh had 41 points for fourth and the top five was rounded out by Cornell University with 34 points.
Amina Zohny (Maplewood, NJ) led the team’s individual performances with a third place finish in 2:54.02. Shameka Marshall (Mizpah, NJ) finished the women’s 60-meter hurdles in 8.65 for eighth place and placed seventh in the women’s long jump with a mark of 5.93 meters.
Dominique Sanon (Bridgeport, CT) finished the 500-meter run in 1:13.78 for sixth place. Amonica Phipps (San Diego, CA) placed sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:12.86.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Zohny, Julie Clifford (Haworth, NJ), Phipps and
Erin Johnson (Morganville, NJ) placed fifth with a time of 9:02.24. The distance
medley team of Julie Culley (Lebanon, NJ), Sherry White (Orange, NJ), Johnson
and Belmax DeJesus (Fort Lee, NJ) finished the distance medley relay in 11:37.65
for sixth place, setting a new school record.
Several members of the team will travel to Miami, FL to compete in the Miami
Relays on March 22. The team will then compete in the Raleigh Relays on March
28-29 in Raleigh, NC.
