Sophomore Shameka Marshall (Mizpah, NJ) continued her outstanding performance this season, breaking the Rutgers school record in the long jump, set by Pamela Birchett more than 13 years ago. Marshall’s jump of 20’1/2” placed her third in the event, qualifying her for the ECACs.
The 4X800 relay team of Erin Johnson (Morganville, NJ), Amonica Phipps (San Diego, CA), Belmax DeJesus (Fort Lee, NJ) and Amina Zohny (Maplewood, NJ) finished second for the Scarlet Knights with an ECAC qualifying time of 9:01.08.
Senior Marsha Day (Leonardtown, MD) placed seventh overall in the pole vault competition with an ECAC qualifying performance of 11’5 ¾”.
Junior Julie Delimon (Stanhope, NJ) finished eighth in the 3000-meters with a time of 10:09.44, which qualifies her for the BIG EAST Championships. Senior Kathryn Tappen (Morristown, NJ) also qualified for the BIG EAST Championships on Friday with a time of 17:51.53, finishing eighth in the 5000-meters. Senior Sophia Anderson (Brooklyn, NY) placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 43’4 1/4 “ to qualify her for the BIG EAST Championships. The mile run saw freshman Nicole Lombardy (Lincroft, NJ) record a BIG EAST qualifying run of 5:06.58.
Members of the Rutgers women’s track and field team will wrap up competition
at the Armory College Invitational on Saturday.
