BRONX, NY -- The Rutgers women’s indoor track and field team set a new school record today while competing at the New York Elite Invitational in Bronx, NY. The distance medley team of Amina Zohny (Maplewood, NJ), Danielle Hobson (West Orange, NJ), Amonica Phipps (San Diego, CA) and Julie Culley (Lebanon, NJ) ran the distance medley in 11:38.08, breaking the old school record of 11:49.2, which was set on March 4, 1990.

Zohny ran the leadoff ¾-mile leg in 3:39.0, Hobson ran the ¼-mile leg in 56.0, Phipps ran the ½-mile in 2:15.4 and Culley anchored the race in 4:47.2.

Marsha Day (Leonardtown, MD) won the pole vault event with a mark of 3.04m and Dominique Sanon (Bridgeport, CT) placed second in the 500-meter (1:17.45). Sherry White (Orange, NJ) placed sixth in the same event in 1:18.54. Jacqueline Todd (Willingboro, NJ) had a time of 58.36 to place eighth in the 400-meter.

Belmax DeJesus (Fort Lee, NJ) finished the mile race in 5:05.26, placing third and qualifying for BIG EAST. Julie Delimon (Stanhope, NJ) also had a BIG EAST qualifying time, finishing the race sixth in 5:06.61. Nicole Lombardy placed ninth with a Metropolitan qualifying time of 5:16.29.

Stacey Muchal (Jermyn, PA) ran the 3000-meter in 10:18.24 for fifth place. Todd placed 11th in the 200-meter in 25.81 and the 4x400-meter relay team of White, Agyeiwa Weathers (Jersey City, NJ), Phipps and Sanon, placed sixth in 3:57.82.

The Scarlet Knights will return to Bronx, NY, to compete in the Metropolitan Championships on Saturday, Feb. 1.
