PRINCETON, NJ - The Rutgers University women's track and field team is tied for 12th place with three other schools after day two of the 2005 ECAC Outdoor Championships at Princeton University.
Rutgers heads into the third and final day of the event tied with West Virginia, Duke and New Hampshire for 12th place in the 29-team field with 11 points each. Pittsburgh is in first place with 39 points.
Senior Shameka Marshall (Mispah, NJ) had a strong outing on day two of competition, as she won the long jump event with a leap of 21’ 6¾”. Marshall also qualified for the finals of the 100m hurdles, running 13.39 in the semifinal round.
RU had several runners advance to the finals, including junior Jacqueline Todd (Willingboro, NJ) (55.42) in the 400m dash, senior Amonica Phipps (Amherst, VA) (2:07.57) in the 800m and the 4x100m relay team of Todd, freshman Sophia Wallace (Montclair, NJ), sophomore Ariel Brockman (Marlton, NJ) and Julie Delimon (Stanhope, NJ) (46.59).
Junior Cycerli Ash (Beach Lake, PA) also scored for the Scarlet Knights with an eighth place finish (146’) in the discus throw.
