PISACATAWAY, N.J. (May 21, 2014) – The Rutgers women’s outdoor track and field team received its highest ranking in program history coming in at fifth in the final U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Region Poll.
The Scarlet Knights are coming off its ECAC Championship appearance where junior Gabrielle Farquharson (Williamstown, N.J.) took third in both the long jump and 200m. Additionally, Rutgers placed sixth at the American Athletic Conference Championships in early May. Farquharson also captured the AAC long jump title, while RU’s 4x400 relay team brought home silver and Farquharson and redshirt senior Asha Ruth (Bowie, Md.) captured bronze in the 200m and long jump respectively.
Several members of the Rutgers women’s track and field team will be competing at the NCAA East Regional hosted by North Florida May 29-31. A complete list of Scarlet Knights vying to reach the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon in June will be available later in the week.
