  • BOSTON, MA - The Rutgers women's track and field team scored 17 points to finish 16th at the annual ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championship, held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center on the campus of Roxbury Community College in Boston, MA, on March 7.

    Shameka Marshall (Mizpah, NJ) highlighted RU’s efforts, as she won the long jump title with a winning jump of 20-3. Marshall also won the 60-meter hurdles semifinals (8.42) and finished sixth in the finals (8.72). Amonica Phipps (Amherst, VA) finished in eighth place in the 800 meters (2:13.23) while Cycerli Ash (Beach Lake, PA) was eighth in the weight throw (58-1.75).

    In the pentathlon, Angela Messerschmidt (Berwick, PA) scored 3,439 points to finish in eighth place. Junior Amonica Phipps (Amherst, VA) was eighth in the 800 meters (2:13.223).

    Marshall will wait to see if her provisional mark will qualify her to compete in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships March 12-13 in Fayetteville, AR.
