PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 26, 2014) – Rutgers’ 4x200 relay team took eighth in the Championship of America final and the 4x400 relay squad captured the ECAC Division title with a new school record on Saturday in the final day of competition at the 120th running of the Penn Relays.
The 4x200 team of senior Ekene Ugboaja (Edison, N.J.), junior Gabrielle Farquharson (Williamstown, N.J.), senior Tylia Gillon (New Egypt, N.J.) and redshirt senior Asha Ruth (Bowie, Md.) captured a time of 1:34.57 for its eighth place finish.
The same Scarlet Knight quartet captured the ECAC final title in the 4x400 as the group clocked in at 3:34.61. The time was not only nearly three seconds faster than previous top time of the year, it also set a new Rutgers benchmark in the event. They bested the previous time of 3:35.22 from last season’s NCAA East Regional.
