PRINCETON, N.J. (April 19, 2014) – The Rutgers women’s track and field team was back in action this weekend at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University.
Junior Allison Payenski (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) led the way for the Scarlet Knights as the runner-up in the 1500m. Payenski registered a personal best in taking second with her time of 4:35.57. She was nearly two seconds faster than her previous best captured at the end of the March at the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond, Virginia.
Rutgers also had a top 10 performance in the 800m with freshman Kaitlyn Bedard (Ringoes, N.J.) taking ninth. Bedard clocked in at 2:15.59, a personal best by a minute and a half. Her previous best came during the indoor season at the Valentine’s Invitational in Boston held mid-March, when she crossed the finish line in 2:17.34.
Other notable Scarlet Knight performances included sophomore Paige Senatore (Delsea, N.J.) taking 13th in her 1500m debut in a time of 4:44.23, sophomore Niyah Lamar (Parsippany, N.J.) placing 19th in the 100m in 12.83 and junior Christina Dibernardo (Woodbury, N.Y.) coming in 19th in the 400m in 57.59.
The Rutgers women’s track and field team returns to action at the prestigious Penn Relays on April 24-26.
