    RICHMOND, Va.  (March 29, 2014) – The Rutgers women’s outdoor track and field team picked up seven top 10 finishes along with a pair of ECAC qualifying times in the 100m and 200m by junior Gabrielle Farquharson (Williamstown, N.J.) at the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond this weekend.

    Farquharson won the 200m in a time of 24.53 and was the runner-up in the 100m, clocking in at 12.01.

    Other top performances for the Scarlet Knights included a third place finish by sophomore Paige Senatore (Delsea, N.J.) in the 5000m with her time of 17:49.42, a ninth place showing by junior  Allison Payenski (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) in the 1500m with her time of 4:37.53 and a 10th place time by sophomore Alayna Famble (Stockbridge, Ga.) in the 400m in 57.23. 

    Additionally, the 4x800 relay squad placed second.  The team of freshman Kaitlyn Bedard (Ringoes, N.J.), freshman Ellen Miller (Morris Plains, N.J.), senior Rachel Leeke (Brooklyn, N.Y.)  and Payenski posted a time of 9:35.41.

    In the field, junior Sonya Schement (Murphy, Texas) was the runner-up in the pole vault, reaching a height of 3.50m.

    The Rutgers women’s outdoor track and field team returns to action at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. starting on Friday, April 5.
