PISCATAWAY, N.J. (February 6, 2014) – The Rutgers women’s track & field team has two meets coming up this weekend with the Scarlet Knights competing at the Valentine’s Invitational on Friday, Feb. 7 in Boston, Mass. and at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the NYC Armory.
The Scarlet Knights are coming off its Metropolitan Championships title from last weekend, which saw RU earn victories in the 200m, 400m, 4x400 relay, long jump and pentathlon along with eight ECAC qualifying marks.
Last season at the New Balance Invitational, seniors Tylia Gillon (New Egypt, N.J.) and Ekene Ugboaja (Edison, N.J.) highlighted the Rutgers results. Gillon earned ECAC qualifying times with her 19th place finish in the 60m championship division (7.52), narrowly missing out on qualifying for the finals, and placed second in the 200m preliminaries in the college division (24.56) Ugboaja meanwhile took ninth in the 500m college division with a personal best of 1:16.46.
RU was scheduled to compete last year at the Valentine's Invitational hosted by Boston University, but the meet was canceled due to inclement weather.
Following this weekend’s competition, the Rutgers women’s indoor track & field squad will head back to New York for the NY Armory Collegiate on Saturday, Feb. 15.
