Women's Indoor Track Kicks Off Season At New Year's Invitational

    PISCATAWAY, N.J. (December 6, 2013) -- The Rutgers women's indoor track & field team kicks off the 2013-14 season on Saturday at the New Year's Invitational held at Jadwin Gymnasium on the campus of Princeton.  Competition begins at 11 a.m.

    Rutgers will be among nine schools participating at the meet joining Bryn Mawr, Georgian Court, Johns Hopkins, Messiah, Morgan State, Rider and Towson along with host Princeton. Athletes from various track clubs will also be competing.

    Last season, the Scarlet Knights registered several notable performances.

    Individually on the track, Kaprice James (Roselle, N.J.)  and Meagan Robinson (Burlington, N.J.) took second and third respectively in the 60m dash while Ekene Ugboaja (Edison, N.J.) placed second in the 300m.  In the mile,  Allison Payenski (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) placed third edging  Felicia O’Donnell (Franklinville, N.J.) by .10 seconds.

    In relay action, the 4x400 team comprised of James, Ugboaja,  Christina Dibernardo (Woodbury, N.Y.),and Tylia Gillon (New Egypt, N.J.) finished in third.

    In the field events, the Scarlet Knights were led by a fifth place finish in the high jump by Kristen Bradley (Medford, N.J.)
