PRINCETON, N.J. (May 12, 2013) – The Rutgers women’s outdoor track & field team concluded ECAC Championship competition on Sunday taking ninth place with three Scarlet Knights, as well as the 4x100 relay team, in action.
The 4x100 relay team of sophomore Gabrielle Farquharson (Williamstown, N.J.), redshirt junior Asha Ruth (Bowie, Md.), junior Corryn Hurrington (Bowie, Md.) and junior Tylia Gillon (New Egypt, N.J.) took home third place in the finals. The RU quartet compiled a time of 45.40, edged out second by a mere .02 seconds.
The Scarlet Knights were also featured in the finals of the 100m, 200m and 1500m. Gillon, who with the 4x100 relay squad took third, also took third in the 100m with a time of 11.70. Ruth, who was also a part of the bronze medaling 4x100 team, captured fifth in the 200m crossing the finish line in a time of 24.14. Junior Ashley Deckert (Newfield, N.J.) claimed sixth in the 1500m clocking in with a time of 4:29.51. Deckert was .05 seconds off of her personal best captured in Saturday’s preliminaries.
Connecticut won the championship with 73 points followed by Maryland-Eastern Shore in second with 53 points and host Princeton in third with 51.50 points. The Scarlet Knights accumulated 28 points in their ninth place showing.
