BOSTON, Mass. (March 2, 2013) – Junior Tylia Gillon (New Egypt, N.J.), sophomore Gabrielle Farquharson (Williamstown, N.J.), redshirt junior Asha Ruth (Bowie, Md.) and the 4x400 relay team all advanced to finals racing on Saturday at the 2013 ECAC Championships being held at Boston University this weekend.
Gillon, the defending 60m champion, qualified for Sunday’s after taking second in the preliminaries by clocking in at 7.52 and later placing third in the semifinals with a time of 7.45.
Farquharson and Ruth both collected the second best times in Rutgers school history in their respective events. Farquharson advanced to the finals of the 200m racing to a time of 24.13 and placing fifth in the preliminaries. With her 400m preliminary performance, Ruth placed second in crossing the finish line in a time of 53.81.
Additionally, the 4x400m relay squad of junior Corryn Hurrington (Bowie, Md.), Farquharson, freshman Alayna Famble (Stockbridge, Ga.) and senior Ekene Ugboaja (Edison, N.J.) will race again on Sunday after taking fifth and qualifying for finals as they combined for a time of 3:42.19 in the preliminaries.
