GENEVA, Ohio. (February 17, 2013) – The Rutgers women’s indoor track & field team wrapped up competition at the 2013 BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute with a 10th place finish.
Notre Dame took the BIG EAST conference title with Connecticut in second and Villanova placing third.
Three Scarlet Knights were racing in finals action on Sunday. Junior Tylia Gillon (New Egypt, N.J.) placed fourth in the finals of the 60m, clocking in with a time of 7.49 (ECAC Qualifier). Sophomore Christina Dibernardo (Woodbury, N.Y.) took seventh in the finals of the 500m finishing in a time of 1:16.66. Senior Ekene Ugboaja (Edison, N.J.) took eighth in the finals of the 400m crossing the finish line in a time of 55.83 (ECAC Qualifer).
Additionally 4x400m relay team of sophomore Gabrielle Farquharson (Williamstown, N.J.), Ugboaja, Gillon, and redshirt junior Asha Ruth (Bowie, Md.) claimed second place with an ECAC qualifying time of 3:39.32.
On Saturday, Ruth took second in the long jump. On her final jump of the championships, Ruth reached a distance of 5.95m, .02m away from first place. .
