PISCATAWAY, N.J. (February 13, 2013) – The Rutgers women’s indoor track & field team travels to the SPIRE Institute this weekend for the BIG EAST Track & Field Championships Feb. 16-17 in Geneva, Ohio. Events will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with videostreaming, heat sheets and live results available at bigeasttrack.com.
Junior Tylia Gillon (New Egypt, N.J.) and redshirt junior Asha Ruth (Bowie, Md.) have been among the conference’s top performers to-date this season.
Ruth currently holds the second best long jump mark at 6.03m from her first place finish at the Metropolitan Championships in late January. She also logged the seventh-best time in the BIG EAST in the 400m with a time of 55.30, the third fastest time in RU history, at the Great Dane Classic.
Gillon meanwhile posted the BIG EAST’s sixth best times in the 60m and 200m. In the 60m, Gillon raced to a time of 7.52 to win the event title at the Metropolitan Championships, while she posted a time of 24.56 in the 200m at the New Balance Invitational earlier this month.
