PRINCETON, N.J. (December 9, 2012) – Rutgers women’s track and field opened the 2012 indoor season on Sunday at the New Year’s Invitational in Jadwin Gym on the campus of Princeton University.
A pair of Scarlet Knights reached the finals of the 60 meter hurdles with BIG EAST qualifying times. Freshman Kaprice James (Roselle, N.J.) made her RU debut by registering a second place finish of 8.98 (BE Qualifier) with sophomore Meagan Robinson (Burlington, N.J.) in third logging a time of 9.02 (BE Qualifier).
The 300 meter dash saw senior Ekene Ugboaja (Edison, N.J.) take second racing to the finish line in a time of 40.97.
In the mile, sophomore Allison Payenski (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) led Rutgers with time of 5:08.25 for third edging out teammate and classmate Felicia O’Donnell (Franklinville, N.J.) by .10 seconds.
The 4x400 meter relay team comprised of James, Ugboaja, sophomore Christina Dibernardo (Woodbury, N.Y.), and junior Tylia Gillon (New Egypt, N.J.) finished in third in a time of 3:56.02
In the field events, the Scarlet Knights were led by a fifth place finish in the high jump by junior Kristen Bradley (Medford, N.J.). Bradley jumped to a height of 1.64m.
The Scarlet Knight indoor track & field team returns to action hosting the Rutgers Invitational on Jan. 4-5.
