DES MOINES, Iowa (June 7, 2012) – Rutgers junior Asha Ruth (Bowie, Md.) concluded her outdoor season at the 2012 NCAA Track and Field Championships, earning Second Team All-America honors on Thursday, June 7 at Drake University.

Ruth finished 16th out of 24 competitors in the long jump, recording a leap of 20’ 3”(6.17m).

“Asha had an outstanding year as she excelled in every event she competed in,” said head women’s track and field coach James Robinson. “She put together one of the best individual seasons in Rutgers history. I’m very proud of her earning Second Team All-America honors and I expect Asha to continue to put up many more exciting performances over the next two years.”

Ruth enjoyed a standout season, winning the individual title in the long jump at the BIG EAST Championships and taking second in the event at the ECAC Championships.

Ruth is the first Scarlet Knight on the women’s side to compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championship since Shameka Marshall in 2005.
