RICHMOND, Va. (April 2, 2012) – The Rutgers women’s track and field team traveled to Richmond, Va. for the seventh annual Fred Hardy Invitational at Robins Stadium on Saturday.
The Scarlet Knights recorded a number of postseason qualifying marks, including a pair of ECAC times. Senior Danai Lendor (Lawrenceville, N.J.) placed third in the 400-meter hurdles, first among collegiate athletes with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:02.00. Sophomore Ashley Deckert (Newfield, N.J.) also ran an ECAC time, finishing third in the 1,500-meter (second among collegiates) with a time of 4:30.47.
Freshman Christina Dibernardo (Woodbury, N.Y.) placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a BIG EAST time of 56.92, while classmate Jillian Grant (Matawan, N.J.) was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles, running a time of 1:02.66 (BIG EAST).
In the 4x800-meter relay, the Scarlet Knights placed second as Deckert joined Victoria Pontecorvo (Staten Island, N.Y.), Allison Payenski (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) and Lindsay Bertulis (Cedarville, N.J.) to run a time of 9:21.75.
Rutgers finished 3-4-5 in the 5,000-meter run with Rashmi Singh (Flemington, N.J.) placing third in 18:09.90, followed by Anjelica Brinkofski (Somerset, N.J.) in fourth (18:19.18) and Kelly Flannigan (Middletown, Conn.) in fifth (18:20.63).
RU will return to action on Friday, April 6 for the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va.
