SYRACUSE, NY - After six events of the 2004 BIG EAST Track and Field Championships at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, NY, the Rutgers women’s track and field team is in 10th place with seven points. Miami and Pittsburgh are tied atop the leader board with 40 points apiece.

BRONX, NY - Junior Shameka Marshall (Mizpah, NJ) competed at the Millrose Games and the Metropolitan Championships, setting a pair school records and helping to lead the women’s track and field team to its second consecutive Met Championship at the New York Armory in the Bronx.

January-24-04 Women's Track Captures First at Princeton Relays, Men Ninth
PRINCETON, NJ - Using a balanced effort, the Rutgers women’s track and field team finished first in the nine-team field at the Princeton Relays on Jan. 24, while the men’s team, which sent only a few competitors, finished ninth.

January-17-04 Men Finish Third, Women Take 12th at US Coaches Association Track Meet
STATE COLLEGE, PA – Led by first-place finishes from Anthony Butler (Pittsgove, NJ) in the high jump and Rowan Clarke (Teaneck, NJ) in the triple jump, the men's indoor track and field team claimed third place at the 15-team US Coaches Association Track Meet, held today at Penn State University. The women, meanwhile, finished 12th.

January-10-04 RU Women's Track Takes Second at Princeton
PRINCETON, NJ - In a three-team meet, the Rutgers women’s track and field team scored 63 points to come in second to Princeton (71), while St. John’s (45) took third at Jadwin Gym on the campus of Princeton on Jan. 10.

PRINCETON, NJ - Despite the inclement weather, the Rutgers men’s and women’s track and field teams were able to travel to Princeton, NJ, to open up the indoor season at the New Year’s Invitational on Sunday, Dec. 7. Both teams had a number of champions and several individuals qualify for postseason competition.

July-25-03 RU Grad Tappen Wins On Air Spot With CSTV
NEW YORK, NY - Kathryn Tappen, a 22-year-old 2003 Rutgers University graduate from Morristown, New Jersey, bested nearly 100 other aspiring sportscasters from 23 states over two days of competition to earn a guest on-air assignment on future CSTV: College Sports Television programming. CSTV (www.cstv.com) is the first 24-hour college sports network.

June-13-03 Rutgers Athletes Compete at NCAA Championships
SACRAMENTO, CA -- Danielle Hobson (West Orange, NJ) placed 15th in the 400 meter hurdles event at the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, CA, on Wednesday, June 11. Hobson’s time of 59.03 in the preliminaries qualified her for the 400 meter hurdles semifinals at 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 12. In the semifinals, Hobson placed 14th with a time of 58.76.

June-03-03 Rutgers Sends Three to NCAA Championships
PISCATAWAY, NJ - Three members of the Rutgers women’s track and field team, junior Jen Austin (Garfield, NJ), senior Danielle Hobson (West Orange, NJ) and sophomore Shameka Marshall (Mizpah, NJ), have received All-East honors based on their performances at the ECAC Championships, hosted by Princeton University, May 15-18. The last time Rutgers was represented in three different events in national competition was 1982.
