SACRAMENTO, CA -- Sam Segond (East Stroudsburg, PA), had a throw of 53.62 for 20th place in the qualifying round of the discus competition at the 2003 NCAA Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, CA.

Segond won the discus title at the BIG EAST Championships, the IC4A Championships and the NCAA Regionals this past season.

Segond captured first place in the discus event at the NCAA East Regionals with a throw of 188 feet, ranking him 12th in the nation as well as giving him an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. As a freshman, Segond was honored with All-American status after placing 12th in discus at the 2002 NCAA Championships.
