  • PRINCETON, NJ - The Rutgers men's outdoor track and field team tied for third place at the 2003 IC4A Championships, hosted by Princeton University. The Scarlet Knights earned 41 points to tie with Connecticut. West Virginia won with 48 points and Princeton had 47 points to capture second. There were 48 scoring teams.

    The Scarlet Knights were led by first-place performances from David Klics (Lincoln Park, NJ), Sam Segond (East Stroudsberg, PA) and Anthony Butler (Pittsgrove, NJ). Klics won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.12 and Butler captured the high jump title with a mark of 2.14 meters. Segond won the discus competition with a throw of 59.03 meters.

    Marquis Allen (Mays Landing, NJ) had a 7.20 meter-mark in the long jump for sixth place. The 4x400-meter relay team of Klics, Lou Tomlinson (Willingboro, NJ), Anthony Gallo (Wall, NJ) and Ryan Westman (Bala Cynwyd, PA) placed fourth with a time of 3:10.89. The 4x800-meter relay team of Tom Morley (Haddon Twp., NJ), Xavier Mendez (Portage, IN), Carlos Iglesia (New Brunswick, NJ) and Mike Redden (South Orange, NJ) had a time of 7:28.99 for sixth place.

    The NCAA Regionals will take place May 30-June 1, in Fairfax, VA and the NCAA Championships will be held in Sacramento, CA, June 11-14.
