PRINCETON, NJ - The Rutgers men's outdoor track and field team finished second in competition at Princeton University on April 19. Princeton placed first with 196 points, Rutgers earned 142 points, Manhattan College placed third with 129 points and Iona had 42 points for fourth place.
Emmanuel Ayvas (Wood-Ridge, NJ) won the pole vault in 4.43 meters. Marquis Allen (Mays Landing, NJ) won the long jump in 7.38 meters. Luis Tomlinson (Willingboro, NJ) finished the 400-meter dash in second with a time of 48.59 and Mike Redden (South Orange, NJ) took second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.49. Tom Morley (Haddon Twp., NJ) finished eighth in the 800 with a time of 1:54.91. Sam Segond (East Stroudsberg, PA) won the discus throw with a toss of 54.95m and Kevin Campbell (Mt. Laurel, NJ) placed seventh with a throw of 33.35. Chris Francisco (Bloomfield, NJ) was second in the javelin competition (59.78m) and Brian Lee (Mt. Laurel, NJ) was third with a throw of 57.41m. David Klics (Lincoln Park, NJ) placed third in the 200-meter dash in 21.59 and second in the 110-meter hurdles (13.98).
Chris Stadler (Manasquan, NJ) finished the 110-meter hurdles in fourth place with a time of 15.62. Greg Ostrowicki (Howell, NJ) earned third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.78. Ostrowicki also placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.89m.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Xavier Mendez (Portage, India), Morley, Chris Perez (Ridgewood, NJ) and Tim Paule (Matawan, NJ) finished second in 3:18.73. Anthony Gallo (Wall, NJ), Redden, Carlos Iglesia (New Brunswick, NJ) and Tomlinson placed fourth in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 3:26.49. The 4x100 meter relay team of Allen, Gallo, Klics and Tomlinson won in 42.00.
Gallo had a time of 50.03 in the 400-meter dash for sixth place. Matt Lunemann (Hillsborough, NJ) had a time of 4:07.86 in the 1500-meter run for 15th place and Ambar Patel (Lake Hiawatha, NJ) finished right behind him in 16th with a time of 4:08.69. Trevor O'Grady (Wood Ridge, NJ) placed sixth in the long jump with a mark of 6.42 meters. O'Grady also placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 11.98m and Ostrowicki was right behind him in eighth place with a throw of 11.72. Rowan Clarke (Teaneck, NJ) placed third in the triple jump (14.36m) and Gary Peters (Bronx, NY) placed fourth (14.03m).
The Scarlet Knights will travel to Philadelphia, PA, to compete in the Penn Relays, April 25-26.
