ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Rutgers men’s track and Field team competed in a non-scoring meet against Navy and Colgate on Saturday, April 12, in Annapolis, MD.
The Scarlet Knights recorded nine first-place finishes on the day, including a 1-2-3 sweep of the 800 meter run. In the 800, Mike Redden (South Orange, NJ), Tom Morley (Haddon Twp. NJ) and Xavier Mendez (Portage, India) finished in times of 1:53.32, 1:54.74 and 1:55.07, respectively. David Klicks (Lincoln Park, NJ) was a two-event winner, placing first in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.47, and in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 14.48. In addition, the 4x100 meter relay team won with a time of 42.47.
In the field, Rutgers placed first in the shot put, long jump, triple jump, discus and javelin. Sam Segond (East Stroudsbeug, PA) won the discus (53.83 meters) and shot put (16.29 meters) to lead the group. Rowan Clark (Teaneck, NJ) won the triple jump with a leap of 13.78 meters, while Marquis Allen (Mays Landing, NJ) won the long jump with a mark of 7.26 meters. In the javelin, Christian Francisco (Bloomfield, NJ) won with a distance of 62.44 meters.
Other top finishers included Lou Tomlinson (Willingboro, NJ) and Turhan Williams (Magnolia, NJ), who placed second and third in the 200 meter dash. Tomlinson finished in 22.97, while Williams had a time of 23.54. Tomlinson added a second place finish in the 400 with a time of 49.10. Greg Ostrowicki (Howell, NJ) added a third place finish in the 400-hurdles with a time of 56.88.
The Rutgers men’s track and field team will return to action on Saturday, April 19 at the Princeton Invitational.
