Ryan Westman (Bala Cynwyd, PA) won the 500-meter run, setting a new school record in the process. His time of 1:01.57 left him in first place in the event. Westman qualified in the first day of competition, finishing second with a time of 1:02.30.
David Klics (Lincoln Park, NJ) placed second in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.42.
The 4x800 relay team of Xavier Mendez (Portage, Indiana), Tom Morley (Haddon Twp., NJ), Mike Redden (South Orange, NJ) and Carlos Iglesia (New Brunswick, NJ) finished the race in 7:30.16, the fastest a 4x800 relay team has run for Rutgers since 1989. The team qualified in the preliminaries with a time of 7:33.90 (first place).
Marquis Allen (Mays Landing, NJ) had a mark of 7.30-meter in the long jump, placing second after his qualifying jump of the same place and length. Greg Ostrowicki (Howell, NJ) earned fifth place in the pentathlon with 3,600 points.
Members of the team will travel to Miami, FL to compete in the Miami Invitational and then the team will compete in the Raleigh Relays on Friday March 28-29.
