Freshman Ryan Westman (Bala Cynwyd, PA) highlighted the meet for the men, qualifying for Saturday’s finals in both the 200 and 400-meters. His 200-meter time of 21.97 is a new Rutgers school record. He ran the 400-meters in 47.61 to earn a spot in the finals.
Freshman Rowan Clarke (Teaneck, NJ) improved on his BIG EAST qualifying time in the triple jump with a jump of 47’ on Friday. Clarke’s performance placed him in the top six in the event.
Running not far from his hometown, senior Lloyd Nolan (Bronx, NY) placed in the top six in the pole vault with a performance of 15’11”. Sophomore Emanuel Ayvas’ (Wood-Ridge, NJ) showing of 15’5” was good enough for a top six finish.
The 4X800 relay team of Brian Stanziano (Barneget, NJ), Xavier Mendez (Portage, India), Carlos Iglesia (New Brunswick, NJ) and Mike Redden (South Orange, NJ) placed third with a time of 7:35.36.
Junior Harran Williams’ (Delran, NJ) time of 48.64 and junior Lou Tomlinson’s (Willingboro, NJ) time of 49.11 qualified both runners for the BIG EAST and IC4A Championships in the 400-meters.
Members of the Rutgers men’s track and field team will wrap up competition
at the Armory College Invitational on Saturday.
