ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Rutgers University men’s track and field team competed at the Navy Invitational on Saturday, April 2, in Annapolis, MD. The Scarlet Knights scored seven top-three finishes, but there were no team scores, as rain caused the cancellation of several events.
Senior Sam Segond (East Stroudsburg, PA) continued his hot streak as he won the shot put with an NCAA regional qualifying mark of 17.01m. Junior Marquis Allen (Mays Landing, NJ) won the long jump with an IC4A qualifying jump of 7.20m, while sophomore Rob Waters (Bellmawr, NJ) also posted an IC4A qualifying time in the 100m dash, winning with a time of 10.70.
Junior Tom Morley (Westmont, NJ) took first place in the 800m with a time of 1:54.80 and in the 1500m, sophomore Bill Hulbert (North Tonawanda, NY) finished second, clocking a time of 4:06.80. Senior Brian Lee (Mt. Laurel, NJ) also placed second in the javelin with a throw of 54.81 meters and sophomore Milo Schwab (Highland Park, NJ) took third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:47.40.
The Scarlet Knights will return to action on Saturday, April 9, at the Virginia Invitational.
