Rutgers finished strong in the men’s pentathlon, with four competitors placing in the top five. Trevor O’Grady (Wood Ridge, NJ) placed second in the men’s pentathlon with 3543 points, 334 points behind Manhattan’s Rajne Svenssohn, who placed first. Dave Klics (Lincoln Park, NJ) followed O’Grady, placing third with 3459 points. Kevin Campbell (Mt. Laurel, NJ) had 3334 points for fourth place and Chris Stadler (Manasquan, NJ) finished in fifth with 2966 points. This was the first pentathlon for both Klics and Stadler.
For the women, Angela Messerschmidt (Berwick, PA) placed third with 3,301 points and Danielle Hobson (West Orange, NJ) finished fifth with 3,215 points. Reva McEachern (Pennsauken, NJ) placed seventh with 2, 867 points. Kerry Ann Mitchell (East Orange, NJ) placed ninth with 2,797 points and Julia Godleski (Morganville, NJ) was right behind her in tenth place with 2,719 points. There were 11 competitors in the event.
The next competition is the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 7, where several members from both the men’s and women’s teams will participate in field-events. After Princeton, the men will begin its team season in the Busch Bubble on Saturday, Jan. 11, hosting Georgetown and The College of New Jersey in their only home meet of the season.
The women’s team continues its season on Friday, Jan. 10 at the Lehigh
Pentathlon and then travel to Princeton, NJ, on Saturday, Jan. 11. On Saturday,
Jan. 18 the team will compete in the Penn State Invitational at Penn State.
