PRINCETON, NJ - The Rutgers men’s track and field team competed at the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton on April 3. Junior All-American Sam Segond (East Stroudsburg, PA) continued to dominate the shot put and the discus, taking first place in both events.
Segond threw the shot 17.67 meters and the discus in a meet record of 58.07 meters. Freshman Paul Applegate (Beachwood, NJ) also competed in the two events, taking second (14.95m) in the shot put and third (43.38m) in the discus.
Junior Brian Lee (Mt. Laurel, NJ) also had a good day in the field with a
second-place finish (60.71m) in the javelin, while junior Greg Ostrowicki
(Howell, NJ) took
fourth (1.80m) in the high jump. On the track, senior Brian Stanziano (Barnegat,
NJ) finished sixth (3:59.77) in the 1500 meters.
The team will return to action on Saturday, April 10, at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, MD.
