PRINCETON, N.J. (May 18, 2014) – Rutgers closed out the IC4A Championships on Sunday with sophomore Thomas Carr (Voorhees, N.J.) placing sixth in the javelin and the Scarlet Knights’ 4x800 relay team racing to an eighth place finish.
Carr, the American Athletic Conference Champion in the javelin, placed sixth with a throw of 65.49 (211’ 7”).
On the track, RU’s 4x800 relay team raced to its fastest time of the outdoor season. The team of junior Chris DeFabio (Millington, N.J.) and seniors Curtis Richburg (West Orange, N.J.), Steve Burkholder (Marlton, N.J.) and Karon Purcell (East Windsor, N.J.) finished with a time of 7:37.88, besting their preliminary time by nearly two seconds.
Rutgers men’s track and field will return to action at the NCAA East Regionals on May 29 and May 30 in Jacksonville, Fla.
