PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 26, 2014) – Sophomore Thomas Carr (Voorhees, N.J.) took second with a personal best of 71.51m (234’ 7”) in the javelin Saturday in the final day of competition at the 120th edition of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field.
Carr’s mark of 71.51m in the championship division surpasses his previous best of 69.98m from the Colonial Relays in early April. His throw from Saturday puts his name 13th nationally and 10th in the East Region.
Freshman Matthew Krezmer (Montoursville, Pa.) also competed in the javelin taking 15th in the college division. Krezmer registered a throw of 60.88m (199’ 8”).
Also in action was RU’s 4x800 team. The team of junior Chris DeFabio (Millington, N.J.) and seniors Karon Purcell (East Windsor, N.J.), Steve Burkholder (Marlton, N.J.) and Curtis Richburg (West Orange, N.J.) placed 17th as they combined for a time of 7:42.04.
