PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 17, 2014) – The Rutgers men’s outdoor track and field team will trek down route 1 to Princeton for the Larry Ellis Invitational this weekend.
At last season’s Larry Ellis Invitational, the Scarlet Knights picked up five IC4A marks, which included second place finishes by redshirt junior Corey Crawford (Oakland, N.J.) in the long jump (7.04m) and Chris Wyckoff (Toms River, N.J.) in the pole vault (4.90m). Junior Chris DeFabio (Millington, N.J.) also had a second place performance in the 1500m (3:56.71). Additionally, Crawford took third in the 200m (21.46) and fourth in the 100m (10.76), while Thomas Carr (Voorhees, N.J.) claimed third in the javelin (60.50m).
Rutgers is coming off an appearance at the Specs Towns Invitational last weekend in Athens, Georgia with titles going to RU’s 4x400 relay team and Crawford in the long jump. Named American Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week for his school record performance in the long jump, Crawford reached 7.80m and is currently tied for fourth nationally and third in the East Region. The 4x100 team, which included Crawford along with sophomore Rajee Dunbar (Arlington, Va.), freshman Jermaine Griffith (Hamilton, N.J.) and junior D’Andre Jordan (Brooklyn, N.Y.), posted an IC4A qualifying time of 3:10.36.
Following this weekend’s meet at Princeton, the Rutgers men’s track and field team returns to action at the prestigious Penn Relays on April 24-26.
